Living with Friedreich Ataxia: Carla, Maria and Nuria

Carla (17), Maria (21), and Nuria (25) were diagnosed with Friedreich Ataxia (FA) when they were younger. At first, accepting their diagnosis was hard, they thought of all the activities they currently do, that they might not be able to do in the future as they lose their independence. “I've always tried to live a normal life, with my difficulties, but normal,” said Nuria. Having the support of their families and a network of friends is important, they explained.

“In the end, a physical barrier will prevent you from doing some things, but you can do many others,” said Carla.
